A Little Hello

Many friends and family ask about how we are doing and I have decided that this is a good way for me to communicate with everyone as well as give updates that will not blow up facebook. For those of you who do not know our story here is a little background and a little bit about P.

                                                                         P
On November 1st 2010 I gave birth to the most incredible little boy. P is so much more than my baby he is one of my best friends. He is 2 now and thriving. I love seeing him learn and discover new things and now that I am off work for a while we are able to finally spend time together on a regular basis. He is excited about becoming a big brother and gives baby love. Recently, he has informed us that the baby should be named Skylander so that is what he calls him/her. We are going to be teaching him the basics of teeball soon and will be practicing hitting a ball from a tee. Mr. P is very athletic and loves sports.

                                                                    Baby J
Today I am 15weeks and 2 days pregnant with baby J. This pregnancy has been far from easy and continues to provide challenges but my faith in God and strong support system are getting me through the emotional battles I face.

In the beginning- My pregnancy started as normal for me. I started my progesterone at 5 weeks and saw baby on U/S at 9 weeks 4days.

The Bad News- On Tuesday January 29th I woke up to every pregnant woman's fear... blood. I called and the doctor saw me that morning. The initial ultrasound looked great and there baby J was growing and healthy with a HR of 164, what we didn't know is that the U/S tech was not able to discuss anything else she saw. 2 hours later we finally saw the doctor and were told that I had complete Placenta Previa (which is not uncommon this early) and that I had a large tear and bleed. The previa we could deal with but the tear was very concerning to both the doc and us. At 12w5d a bleed that size was not a good sign and could be fatal to baby and dangerous to my body. We were told that I had to take it easy and be very careful what I did and I was put on pelvic rest (for those of you who don't know what that is google it). Doc also explained that there were two things that could happen- A. The tear could heal eventually and everything be fine or B. I will have an abruption and baby will pass. This was very hard for me and S to hear because up to this point we had been planning for baby and afterward alot of our excitement was replaced with fear.

2 weeks later- I once again went in to see the doctor because of some complications and we received another U/S. Baby J was so much bigger and actually measuring almost a week ahead. The U/S did reveal that the tear was about the same but the good news was that it wasn't worse. We were told we were not out of the woods yet so I am still having to take things easy but no worse was good news to our ears.

Today- We made it to 15weeks and 2 days which for me is one day closer to getting baby to viability (24weeks). I found baby easily on my home doppler this morning and even felt my first stronger movement. For the last few weeks I have felt what could be baby but this time I was sure. I am elated with such little things because they are reassuring that monkey #2 is growing and still with us. We have another appt. in 2 weeks but most likely will not get another U/S unless the doctor orders it. I will primarily use this Blog to update about my pregnancy but will provide updates about P as well.

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers and continue praying for us.
